Chinese Name : 象胆煎

Drug Formulation

Elephant gall (ground) 1 liang, Fangfeng (with branches removed) 1.5 liang, Ruiren (peeled and ground) 2 liang, Xixin (stems and leaves removed) 0.3 fen, rock honey 1 liang 1 fen, Coptis (stems removed) 3 liang, borneol (ground) 0.5 liang, saltpeter (ground) 1 liang.

Processing

Of the eight ingredients listed above, except for those to be ground, finely chop each one. Decoct in 3 da sheng of water until reduced to 7 he; filter through cotton to remove the dregs. Add borneol and salt green, then decoct for another 10 to 20 boils, and store in an airtight container.

For red eyes, corneal opacities accompanied by pain, and hot, watery tears causing blurred vision.

Instructions for Use

Take an amount equivalent to 1–2 soybeans, mix with freshly drawn water or human milk, and instill into the eye. Keep the eyes closed for a long time. Apply twice daily, morning and night; the condition will be cured as soon as tears flow.
