Drug Formulation

5 sheng of wheat (soak in water until soft; knead separately in water until all the flour is released; stop when the gluten forms a single lump; transfer this flour-water mixture to a separate container, let it settle, and strain off the clear liquid; then place the thick paste in a muslin bag and squeeze it until slightly dry), 5 stalks of raw Pueraria root (3 cun in diameter, 2 chi in length,crush them and knead in water until all the starch and liquid from the kudzu roots are extracted; strain into a separate vessel and let settle, then store as described for the wheat flour), 5 jin of raw trichosanthes fruit (pounded as described above), 3 sheng of sesame seeds (husked, roasted until cooked, and ground into a powder), 1 jin of bamboo root (sliced), 1 jin of raw mugwort root (sliced), 1 jin of raw reed root (sliced),50 black plums (use 5 dou of water to simmer over low heat until reduced to 1.5 sheng; strain out the residue and clarify the liquid), 2 sheng of winter melon juice, 3 sheng of raw Ophiopogon juice, 1 sheng of fresh ginger juice, 1 sheng of cow’s milk, and 2 sheng of white honey.

Processing

First, combine the juices from the bamboo roots and other ingredients with the winter melon juice and the remaining juices. Simmer over low heat until reduced by half. Next, add the cow’s milk and white honey, and simmer for another 6–7 boils. Add the wheat flour, raw kudzu starch, trichosanthes root powder, and sesame seed powder to the mixture and continue simmering. Stir continuously until the mixture reaches the consistency of thick syrup. Once ready, remove from heat, allow to cool, and store in a separate container.

Instructions for Use

Take a small amount of this mixture every night; start with a piece the size of a date and gradually increase to one spoonful. You may also take it daily as desired. If you wish to make it into pills, they may be taken with liquid.
