Drug Formulation

8 liang of Lithospermum root, 4 liang of Angelica sinensis, 1 jin of fresh bamboo shoots, 4 liang of safflower, 4 liang of Akebia stem, 4 liang of ephedra, 4 liang of Angelica dahurica, 4 liang of Bletilla striata, 4 liang of peony bark, 4 liang of red peony root, 4 liang of Huai Shengdi (re-cultivated Rehmannia), 4 liang of burdock seeds, and 4 liang of licorice.

Processing

Coarsely chop the ingredients, add 30 bowls of water, and boil in a pot until the liquid is reduced by 2 parts; remove from heat. Add another 10 bowls of water and simmer until reduced to 5 bowls; strain out the residue. Combine this with the previous decoction and simmer until a drop of the liquid forms a bead. Add 4 liang of honey and continue simmering until it forms beads; set aside for use.Separately, prepare 1.5 qian of plum blossom stamens, 3 qian of toad venom, 1 set of placenta (simmered in wine until it becomes a paste, ready for use), 1 liang of dried silkworm pupae (roasted),whole scorpion (washed in wine), pangolin scales (roasted), Sichuan Coptis (roasted in wine), apricot kernels (with skin and tip removed, ground separately), Scutellaria baicalensis, bee hive (roasted), Forsythia (roasted), Kochia seed (roasted), and large sesame seeds—each 1 liang. Grind into a fine powder; decoct half of the mixture into a paste and form into pills the size of a longan.

Instructions for Use

Take 1 pill per dose, washed down with fresh chicken broth. The lesions will immediately rise and appear in distinct clusters.
