For external eye disorders characterized by redness, swelling, soreness, and blurred vision with a hazy film over the cornea.

Instructions for Use

Place the zinc oxide in a silver-plated pot and calcine it over charcoal until it turns jade green; remove it, then quench it with the Coptis decoction and child’s urine. Repeat this process of calcination and quenching seven times. Add 3 qian of cinnabar, grind them together into a powder, wash with water to remove impurities, allow to dry, and grind again until extremely fine, like dust. Store for future use; this is called “Dan Tou.”To prepare the pearl preparation separately, place approximately 1 qian of pearls in tofu, steam in a bowl for about one hour, grind to a very fine powder, and store for future use.Take 1 qian of Dan Tou, add 1 fen of pearl powder, and mix thoroughly with 3 fen of freshly ground borneol. Place the mixture in a porcelain jar and seal it tightly. For all external eye disorders, dip a silver or ivory hairpin into the medicine and apply it to the inner corners of both eyes. Keep your eyes closed for the duration of a meal, then use the hairpin to gently remove any residue. Apply once daily after breakfast; application at night is also acceptable.
