Drug Formulation

1 liang of cinnabar, 1 liang of realgar (both water-washed and dried), half a liang of Paeoniae Radix (ground into powder), and 1 fen of asafoetida (simmered with half a sheng of wine until reduced to a paste).

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder, then mix with the Asafoetida paste to form pills the size of a chicken’s head.

Instructions for Use

Place 10 pills in a silk pouch; hold it in your hand and sniff it frequently. This prevents miasmic vapors from entering the body. If you encounter someone suffering from a miasma-related illness, have them chew and swallow 3 pills with well water; five doses should be sufficient for a cure.
