Processing

First, refine the oil until it becomes fragrant; add mica and let it simmer for a long time. Then add the Aconite and the remaining herbs. Wait until the mixture turns a scorched yellow, remove from heat, and let it cool. Filter through cotton to remove the dregs, then add the powdered ingredients. Maintain a gentle heat throughout, stirring constantly with a willow wood spatula without stopping. After filtering, return the mixture to the cauldron, increase the heat, and add the salt crystals through the Yellow丹. Stir vigorously; the color will change shortly thereafter. Slightly increase the heat and continue simmering untiluntil the ointment turns a solid black. Take a small amount and drip it onto water; if it solidifies without sticking to your hand, remove it from the heat. First, heat a porcelain vessel over the fire until hot, then pour the ointment inside. Wait until it reaches body temperature. Place mercury in a silk bag and flick it onto the ointment with your fingers in drops the size of a pinhead. Seal it with wax paper; do not allow it to dry out in the wind. It will remain intact for 20–30 years.
