Drug Formulation

Half a jin of raw lacquer, half a jin of pine resin (mix evenly, place in a clay basin, add 7 large crabs—double the amount if using smaller ones; bury half of this basin in the ground, expose it to sunlight, stir with willow branches, and cover it at night; after 21 days, it will have completely dissolved into liquid; retrieve and use as needed), half a jin of realgar (sifted 7 times), 7 snake skins,2 liang of Sichuan Aconite, 2 liang of Wild Aconite (both soaked in ginger juice), 2 liang of Ginseng, and 2 liang of Gastrodia.

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into a powder and form into pills using crab lacquer juice; set aside for use.

Instructions for Use

Initially, use half a jin each of ephedra and perilla leaves, and 4 liang each of saposhnikovia root and schizonepeta, to decoct one bucket of broth. Bathe in this decoction, then change into fresh clothes. Take 3 qian of the pills,and take it with yellow wine until intoxicated. Drink more wine until drunk, then cover up and lie down to induce sweating. Once the sweat has dried, remove the clothes and burn them in an open area; put on fresh clothes. At noon, take another 3 qian, wash it down with wine until intoxicated, and lie down on a mat spread with steamed summer枯草; do not induce sweating.The next day, bathe, take the medicine until intoxicated, lie down on a bed of steamed summer枯草, and follow the previous procedure; retrieve the old clothes and burn them. Continue this for 7 days, and the disease will be completely expelled, appearing as bean-sized sores. Take the medicine for another 7 days, and the sores will all shed their scabs; full recovery will occur in 5–7 days.

Note

Avoid crabs and dog meat; these must never be consumed for the rest of one’s life.
