Drug Formulation

1 liang of Rhododendron flowers, 1 liang of Notopterygium root, 1 liang of Saposhnikovia root (with the root tip removed), 1 liang of Ligusticum root, 1 liang of apricot kernels (soaked in hot water, skinned),1 liang of Asarum, 1 liang of Angelica sinensis, half a liang of Cynanchum atratum, half a liang of Bletilla striata, half a liang of Angelica dahurica, half a liang of Salvia miltiorrhiza, half a liang of Sophora flavescens, half a liang of Scrophularia ningpoensis, half a liang of Cinnamomum cassia, half a liang of Aconite (peeled and pitted), half a liang of Sichuan Aconite (peeled and pitted), half a liang of Sapindus mukorossi (black skin removed), half a liang of Sichuan pepper (seeds removed),Half a liang of Mangcao, half a liang of Sichuan rhubarb.

Processing

Finely chop the ingredients, mix thoroughly with 1 sheng of rice vinegar, and let stand for three nights to moisten the meridians. Then, stir-fry over low heat until dry. Add 2 jin of pork lard from the twelfth lunar month and simmer together over low heat for one day until the medicinal properties are fully extracted. Strain through a new cloth to remove the residue, then filter again through cotton. Return the mixture to the pot and simmer, stirring continuously with a willow wood spatula until it forms a paste. Once set, store in a porcelain jar.
