Elixir to Disperse Stagnation

Elixir to Disperse Stagnation,The condition of mental dullness resembles dementia: the patient remains silent, appears dazed and absent-minded, seems on the verge of madness but cannot fully lose control, and desires to act wildly but dares not. At times, the patient sleeps for several days without waking; at other times, sits for several days without sleeping. Sometimes, the patient hides others’ belongings deeply away. When speaking to others, the patient remains silent while the mind wanders; when speaking behind others’ backs, the patient weeps and laments in a low voice. When offered food, the patient shows aversion and refuses to swallow; when denied food, the patient swallows charcoal as if it were a delight. This is caused by phlegm and qi trapped within the pleural cavity.

Benefits

The condition of mental dullness resembles dementia: the patient remains silent, appears dazed and absent-minded, seems on the verge of madness but cannot fully lose control, and desires to act wildly but dares not.

Instructions for Use

First, decoct the various herbs to make a decoction, mix in cinnabar powder, and administer half a bowl. If the patient refuses to take it, heat the decoction over charcoal; they will then gladly drink it. Heat it again, and have them drink another half bowl; then leave them to their own devices. The patient will inevitably feel weary and wish to lie down. While they are fast asleep, burn all their clothes and bedding, leaving only the clothes they are wearing, and cover them with a new quilt. Under no circumstances should you wake them. Some may sleep for several days. Upon waking, they will surely search for their clothes but find none; they will look for their quilt but find it is not their own. The patient will weep bitterly. At this point, administer another dose of the previous medicine; they will certainly refuse to take it, and will absolutely refuse even if the charcoal is used to heat it. It is acceptable to whip them to provoke their anger; have a strong person hold the medicine and force-feed it to them. They will become furious, and then fall back asleep. At this point, fresh clothing, bedding, and other necessities must be prepared in advance. After half a day, the patient will awaken. Seeing the room filled with loved ones, they will suddenly realize what has happened and weep uncontrollably once more. Everyone present should comfort them with kind words. They will likely speak of ghosts and spirits, but their loved ones should reassure them that, thanks to a certain person’s treatment, all the ghosts and spirits have been completely banished, and there is no need for further worry. Upon hearing this, they will be overjoyed, and the illness will be completely cured.
