Drug Formulation

Mountain Arisaema 2 qian (hairs and skin removed, roasted), Sichuan Clam 2 qian (frog removed, ground into powder, stir-fried), Thousand Gold Frost 1 qian (oil removed and purified), Red-sprouted Euphorbia 1 qian 5 fen (rhizome removed, washed, roasted; only the purple variety from Hangzhou is suitable,as the northern variety of Euphorbia is prone to cracking and is unsuitable for use), raw musk 1 qian (sorted to remove skin and hair), pure cinnabar 2 qian (thoroughly washed), realgar 1 qian (select bright red specimens), cold water stone 3 qian (calcined), verdigris 1 qian, gallic alum 1 qian, pure frankincense 1 qian (de-oiled and cleaned), myrrh 1 qian (de-oiled and cleaned),cent 2 cent of centipede (head and legs removed, stir-fried), 1 cent of whole scorpion (stir-fried with wine), 1 cent of Sichuan armadillo shell (roasted), 1 cent of dried silkworm (silk washed off, stir-fried), 2 cents of toad venom (dissolved in wine), 1 cent of dragon’s blood,5 fen of plum-blossom borneol, 1 qian 6 fen of dried alum, 4 qian of gambier (dissolved in wine), 5 fen of mercury oxide, 3 qian of red arsenic, 1 qian of soapberry thorns (roasted).

Processing

Grind each of the above herbs into a fine powder. Weigh each ingredient according to the specified amount, combine the pure powders, and grind them together until extremely fine. First, take 21 snails, lightly pound them to remove the shells, then mix them with toad venom and gambir to form a thick, sticky paste. Only then add the herbal powders and pound everything together until thoroughly uniform. Shape the mixture into small tablets, place them in a lime-lined jar to dry, and store them in a porcelain jar for future use.
