Drug Formulation

2 liang of Aconite (this herb is optimal; if unavailable, substitute with large Aconite root, peeled), 2 liang of Sichuan Aconite (peeled), 1 liang of Southern Aconite, 1 liang of White Aconite, 1 liang of Gastrodia, 1 liang of White Atractylodes, half a liang of Ligusticum, half a liang of Wood Fragrance, half a liang of Whole Scorpion (mixed with ginger juice), and half a liang of Pinellia (use raw together with Aconite, Aconite root, Southern Aconite, and Sichuan Aconite).

Benefits

Due to irregular diet and lifestyle, yang qi fails to consolidate, allowing wind-pathogen to invade, resulting in stroke, hemiplegia, and weakness in the hands and feet; headaches on one or both sides of the head, with pain extending to the brain, often feeling as if being pulled; upon onset, the eyes cannot open, and dizziness prevents the patient from lifting their head.

Instructions for Use

Use all the above ingredients raw, chopped into pieces the size of sesame seeds. Take 1.5 liang per dose,1 liang of fresh ginger (sliced), and 5 zhan of water. Simmer over alternating high and low heat until reduced to 1.5 zhan; add another 3 zhan of water and simmer a second time to yield 1 zhan; add yet another 3 zhan of water and simmer a third time to yield 1 zhan. In total, this yields 3 zhan. Combine all three portions, divide into three doses, and take them on an empty stomach while still slightly warm. These three doses may be taken in a single day.

Note

Avoid eating mutton, pig’s head, and foods that induce wind.
