Drug Formulation

Beeswax 30 qian, beef tallow 30 qian, wild boar fat 30 qian, domestic pig fat 30 qian, coconut oil 30 qian, tin powder 30 qian, sesame oil 1 he (in one variation, omit coconut oil and add 10 qian of camphor).

Processing

First, place the sesame oil in a clean pot and simmer over low heat until it reaches 80% of its volume. Add the yellow wax and stir with a willow-bristle whisk for a short while. Then scoop out a small amount,drip a small amount into water to test the consistency. When the softness is just right, remove from heat. After a short while, strain through fine, old silk to remove impurities. Return to the heat until it appears to be melting, then add the four types of fat and stir to combine. Transfer back to the pot and continue stirring. When the mixture is at a temperature between warm and cool, slowly add the chalk while stirring continuously. Watch as the ointment gradually solidifies until it resembles a white wall, then transfer to a porcelain container for storage and use.
