Drug Formulation

Croton seeds (crushed with shells) 6 liang, sesame oil 12 liang, lead丹 (roasted until purple) 3 liang.

Processing

First, simmer the castor beans in the oil over low heat for 1–2 days; stop when drops of the mixture form beads when dropped into water. Strain out the residue, then place the residue in a tall bottle. Prop up one end of the bottle to create a slope, and apply heat to the bottom to force the oil and paste from the castor beans to flow out. Collect this in a container, add it to the previously prepared mixture, and simmer while stirring until well blended.add lead丹, and continue boiling until the mixture turns purple. Remove from heat and allow to cool, then place in a porcelain box and seal tightly. Bury the box in a hole in the ground for 7 days to remove the toxic heat.
