Chaihu-Gualou Decoction,In cases where the lungs have a preexisting heat, qi is excessive in the body, causing cold extremities and upward surging; the central qi is full and does not dissipate outward; this qi is stored internally in the heart and lodged externally between the muscles, leading to malaria-like symptoms. Fever occurs every other day; when it arises, the patient inevitably yawns frequently, experiences headache, stiffness, and fatigue, and suffers from wasting and loss of flesh. The pulse is string-like, large, and rapid.

Chaihu (stems removed, washed) 8 qian, Shaoyao 2 qian, Ren Shen 2 qian, Banxia (washed 7 times in boiling water) 2.5 qian, Gancao (roasted) 2 qian, Goulou 2 qian.

Instructions for Use

Coarsely crush the ingredients. Add 2 sheng of water, 10 slices of fresh ginger, and 2 jujubes (split open), and decoct together until reduced to 1 sheng. Divide into 3 doses and take after straining out the residue.
