Drug Formulation

1.5 liters of ash from a sugar-making furnace, 1 liter of weathered lime (roasted until red), 2 qian of croton seed, 2 qian of toad venom, 0.5 fen of ground white cloves, and 1 qian of roasted lime.

Processing

Place the first two ingredients in a bamboo sieve; slowly pour 3 bowls of boiling water over them to extract about 1 bowl of natural juice. Transfer to a copper pot and simmer over low heat until it becomes a thin paste. First add the ground croton seeds, followed by the toad venom, ground white cloves, and roasted lime. Stir well and continue simmering until it becomes a dry paste. Remove from heat, allow to cool, and store in a porcelain jar, ensuring no air escapes.

Instructions for Use

To use, take a small amount with the tip of a hairpin and place it on your fingernail to grind it into a fine powder. Blow gently on it to mix it into a paste-like consistency. Use a needle to make an incision in the affected area, then apply the medicine. If there is pus, it will drain; if there is no pus, the swelling will dissipate.

Note

Avoid using on healthy tissue or around the eyes.
