Drug Formulation

Half a jin of elk antler (first, decoct 2 dou of mulberry wood ash in water to produce 3 dou of liquid; then cut the elk antler into pieces, place them in the ash liquid, and simmer over low heat until all the liquid has evaporated; allow to dry, then take 4 liang for use), half a liang of aloe, half a liang of red arrowroot, half a liang of scorpion tails (fried in wine),half liang of musk (ground), half liang of aconite root (roasted until cracked, with skin and pith removed), and 1 fen of dried ginger (roasted).

Instructions for Use

Take 5 qian per dose, mix thoroughly with 7 qian of fine ground cured tea. For patients with this condition whose nasal bridge has not yet collapsed, whose voice has not yet changed, and who suffer from the leakage of vital essence, take 1 qian of the powdered medicine and dissolve it in a decoction of Schizonepeta and mint, prepared like tea, and drink while hot; if the medicinal effect feels too potent, add a small amount of salt with each sip. To induce sweating, take it while hot, cover with thick clothing to induce sweating, and guard against external wind.
