Drug Formulation

10 liang of lead, 3 liang of tin (melt both ingredients together to form a liquid, then strain to remove impurities), 2 pieces of malachite, 2 pieces of chela barberry bark, 4 pieces of borod, 1 fen of sulfur (finely ground), half a liang of sour pomegranate peel, 1 fen of magnetite, 1 fen of green vitriol,half liang of cinnabar (roasted with vinegar), half liang of cooked dried rehmannia root (charred until black), 1 he of black sesame oil (roasted until scorched), 1 liang of madder root (chopped), and half liang of walnut kernel.

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. First, melt the lead and tin to form a liquid. Take half of the powdered mixture and add it to the lead-tin mixture, stirring thoroughly with a willow wood comb until uniform. Immediately pour the mixture into a comb mold, allow it to cool, then remove it. Open the teeth of the comb and prepare it according to the prescribed method. Place the remaining powder in a cauldron with water and boil the comb for three days and three nights;If the water evaporates, top it up with hot water as needed. After three days, remove the comb, wash it thoroughly, and wipe it dry. Wrap it in several layers of old cloth and let it sit for 3–5 days.

Instructions for Use

Line your hand with tanned leather and comb it 100 times until it turns jet black. Before each use, wash the hair thoroughly with soapberry water, let it dry, and then comb it.
