Drug Formulation

1 liang of cinnabar; equal parts of Tiannanxing and Banxia (ground into a powder). Take a small powder box; first spread 1 qian of the aforementioned powdered medicine on the bottom, then place the cinnabar in the center, and cover the top with another 1 qian of the powdered medicine. Next, mix red ochre powder with water to form a paste and seal the opening. Secure the outside with iron wire, then coat it with a layer of Liu-yi salt mud about 1 cun thick.After 6–7 days, first heat it gently over low flame for half a day, then calcine it over a fire until it glows red-hot. Allow it to cool, remove it, and grind it into a powder.Next, use: 4 liang of Yu Yuliang, 2 liang of Zhen Tou Da Zhe Shi, 1 liang of purple quartz (calcined until red-hot and quenched 7 times with good vinegar), 3 liang of red beeswax (used raw), 1 liang of sulfur (boiled in vinegar until dry), 2 pieces of Aconite (processed, with skin and pith removed), and 1 liang of cuttlefish bone (shell removed).

Processing

Grind the ingredients into a fine powder; continue grinding in a mortar until no sound is heard. Next, use fresh glutinous rice, steamed until very soft, to form pills the size of millet grains. Place them in a new cloth bag. Cut Cinnamomum cassia and talc into thin slices, then pound them together with the medicine until smooth. Store in a porcelain box.

Take 2–5 pills per dose, washed down with a strong decoction of jujubes on an empty stomach.
