Drug Formulation

3.5 sheng of raw Tianmendong (remove the core, chop, and pound to extract all the juice),3.5 sheng of Lycium root (thoroughly washed, drained, chopped; boiled in 2 shi 5 dou of water to extract 1 dou 3 sheng of juice; clarified and strained), 3 sheng of clarified butter, 3.5 dou of raw Rehmannia root (thoroughly washed, finely sliced, pounded to extract all juice), 1 sheng of deer marrow,3 sheng of ox marrow (for the above six ingredients: first combine the juices from three of them with 1 shi of water in a large cauldron; boil down to 5 dou 3 sheng; transfer to a pot and re-simmer until reduced to 1 dou; transfer to a copper vessel and add the remaining ingredients), 2 liang of cinnamon bark (with coarse bark removed), 2 liang of white atractylodes, 2 liang of Asarum, 2 liang of acorus, 2 liang of polygala (with core removed),Alisma 2 liang, Chinese yam 2 liang, ginseng 2 liang, Dendrobium (root removed) 2 liang, Achyranthes (soaked in wine, sliced, and roasted) 2 liang, Eucommia 2 liang, Asarum (stems and leaves removed) 2 liang, Schisandra fruit (peeled) 2 liang, Angelica pubescens (root tip removed) 2 liang,Zhike (pulp removed, stir-fried with wheat bran) 2 liang, Chuanxiong 2 liang, Astragalus (chopped) 2 liang, Cistanche (soaked in wine, sliced, and roasted) 2 liang, Dipsacus 2 liang, Dogspine (hairs removed) 2 liang, Smilax 2 liang, Angelica dahurica 2 liang,Morinda root (core removed) 2 liang, Acanthopanax root bark (roasted) 2 liang, Rubus fruit 2 liang, Aged tangerine peel (white pith removed, stir-fried) 2 liang, Sesame seeds (stir-fried) 2 liang, Soybean rolls (raw, dried) 2 liang, Poria cocos (black skin removed) 2 liang, Licorice root (roasted, chopped) 1 liang,Heather leaves 1 liang, Cypress seeds (roasted) 1 liang, Sichuan pepper (seeds and closed ends removed, roasted until sweating) 1 liang, Donkey-hide gelatin (roasted until dry) 10 liang, Deer antler gelatin (roasted until dry) 5 liang, Jujubes 100 (boiled to extract the flesh), Coix seeds (roasted until cooked) 1 sheng.

Processing

Take the 43 ingredients listed above; pound and sift 37 of them into a fine powder. Add this powder to the decoction of the first three ingredients, then incorporate deer marrow, beef marrow, and ghee. Simmer in a double boiler, stirring until well blended, then form into pills the size of a paulownia seed.

Instructions for Use

Take 20 pills per dose on an empty stomach with warm wine; gradually increase the dose to 40 pills.

Note

Women with chronic conditions should take this formula if their condition is characterized by heat; it is not suitable for those with a cold condition.
