Drug Formulation

20 liang of rosin (decoct in mulberry-wood charcoal juice, clarify, add the rosin, and boil until thoroughly softened; remove and place in cold water for a short time, then boil in lye water until the color turns white), 3 liang of frankincense (for each liang, stir-fry with 2 qian 5 fen of lamp wick to remove oil, then grind into a fine powder), 3 liang of myrrh (processed as above), 5 liang of verdigris(ground to a fine powder; sifted through a silk sieve, then ground again until no sound is heard), Hundred Herbs Ash 5 liang (ground to a fine powder, sifted through a silk sieve, then ground again until no sound is heard), Beeswax 10 liang (scraped into coarse pieces), White wax 2 liang (coarsely chopped), Sesame oil 6 liang.

Processing

First, use mulberry wood fire to bring the sesame oil to a rolling boil in a pot; second, add rosin and wait until it simmers slightly; third, add white wax and wait until it simmers slightly; fourth, add yellow wax and wait until it simmers slightly; fifth, add frankincense and wait until it simmers slightly; sixth, add myrrh and wait until it simmers slightly; seventh, add copper green and wait until it simmers slightly; eighth, add herb ash and bring to a boil several more times. If the mixture is overcooked in the pot, it will be unsuitable for use and will have reduced efficacy.Once completely cooled, roll into pellets the size of a longan seed and store in a porcelain jar.

Instructions for Use

When ready to use, flatten one pill with your fingers—avoid exposing it to fire—or soften it by breathing on it or steaming it in hot water, then apply it to the affected area. Pain subsides immediately, and swelling disappears by the next day; it is also effective for lesions that have already ruptured.
