Drug Formulation
6 liang of zinc oxide, 3 liang of orpiment, 1 liang of Coptis, 2 qian of Angelica sinensis, 2 qian of cinnabar, 2 qian of borax, 1 qian of white cloves, 1 qian of sea squirt, 1 qian of raw white alum, 1 qian of mercury oxide, 5 fen of frankincense, 5 fen of myrrh, 5 fen of bear bile, 5 fen of musk,camphor 1 qian (except for camphor and musk, grind the remaining ingredients separately into fine powders, weigh them, and mix evenly; add the Coptis and Angelica sinensis powders, mix with water until smooth, filter through cotton or silk to remove residue, then grind the mixture over 10,000 times; sun-dry; add musk and grind until extremely fine, sifting through a fine sieve; next, add camphor and grind evenly;sift again; then incorporate to complete the ointment formulation), half a jin of Coptis, 2 liang of Gentiana, 2 liang of Saposhnikovia, 2 liang of Angelica, 2 liang of Raw Rehmannia,8 chebulic myrobalan fruits (pitted and ground into powder), 2.5 qian of lily seed, 4 goose pears (extract the juice), 2 pig pancreases (scrub with rice straw to remove the fatty membrane until completely clean and oil-free; then wrap in cloth and pound into a paste to be added to the mixture), 2 liang of winter honey (simmer separately until dry and crisp).

Processing
Wash and coarsely chop the nine ingredients starting with Coptis; soak them in well water in a copper or porcelain vessel for five days in spring, two days in summer, three days in autumn, and seven days in winter. Strain out the residue, then re-decoct the residue 3–4 times to extract all medicinal properties. Filter through muslin lined with cotton paper, clarify the liquid, remove any sediment, and simmer over low heat.Take 49 branches each of locust, mulberry, and willow, each 1 chi in length. Stir continuously without stopping, alternating the branches until thoroughly mixed. When the mixture resembles malt sugar, add honey and mix evenly. Place in a porcelain bowl and set it on the mouth of a teapot to steam until it becomes a paste. Filter again until clear; when a drop falls into water, it should sink and form a bead—this indicates the mixture is ready to be made into pills. Allow it to sit for several days to remove the heat toxicity, then remelt it, mix in the powder evenly,pound into pills or tablets, air-dry, and coat with gold or silver foil.

Instructions for Use
Take a small amount, dissolve it in well water, dip a duck feather in the solution, and apply it to the eyes; alternatively, dissolve it in hot water and use the solution to wash the eyes.Use a pronged needle to puncture the outer part of the eye socket to drain damp-heat. For conditions such as ingrown eyelashes or curled eyelashes—caused by tight inner eyelids—pull the inner eyelid outward, puncture it with a pronged needle to draw blood, and drain the latent fire. This will relax the eyelid, allowing the lashes to stand upright and the opacity to recede.
