Longevity Paste,For all types of exhaustion.

Formulas Name : Longevity Paste

Chinese Name : 延龄膏

Drug Formulation

Toad, crane bone, cloves, jujube leaves, conger eel, wood fragrant, and pig’s tooth soap pod—each in equal parts; a small amount of musk (ground separately into a fine powder).

Source

From *Bo Ji*, Volume 1.

Processing

Grind the ingredients into a fine powder. Place the powder into a large sheep intestine, tie both ends securely, and steam over a rice steamer until cooked through. Remove and allow to cool. Slice open with a bamboo knife, grind the contents together with the intestine into a fine paste, then add the musk and grind until evenly mixed. Form into pills the size of a paulownia seed.

Benefits

For all types of exhaustion.

Instructions for Use

Each day between the hours of Chen and Si, swallow 100 pills with water heated with mugwort incense; adjust the dosage gradually according to the patient’s strength. After taking all 100 pills at once, cover the patient with clothes and bedding to induce sweating; for severely ill patients, leave the face slightly exposed. As the parasites crawl about, sweat will emerge; the corpse-dwelling parasites will be the size of wheat bran, while the rest will be slightly larger. After all the sweat has been expelled, the patient’s body will feel light and refreshed, and three or four-tenths of the illness will have been eliminated.Once the sweat has dried, immediately change the patient’s clothes and bedding. If, upon the first dose, the worms are continuously vomited out with the stool without stopping, the condition is difficult to treat; if 60–70 pills remain after taking 100, treatment is still possible—simply supplement with a fresh dose. If the medicine is retained entirely, the illness will invariably subside. For severe cases, taking two to three doses will permanently eradicate the root cause. For treating consumptive diseases, boiling the powder into a decoction for 3–5 doses is most effective. When sweating first begins, frequently change handkerchiefs to wipe it away. After about the time it takes to cook two meals, intestinal parasites will be expelled once with a bowel movement; use a separate basin to collect them. The parasites are all slightly plump and will float on the surface, moving about. If the patient does not vomit after taking the medicine, that is excellent.

Note

After taking the medicine, avoid all forms of physical exertion and other harmful substances. For the rest of your life, strictly avoid substances that conflict with this formula; under no circumstances should you consume Sophora flavescens, ginseng, azurite, Ophiopogon japonicus, or Aconite.
