Drug Formulation

4 liang of white radish sprouts (if sprouts are unavailable, substitute with 1 jin of fresh white radish); 5 liang of water chestnut sprouts (if sprouts are unavailable, substitute with 1 jin of fresh water chestnuts);5 liang of fresh Achyranthes root (use 7 liang of dried root; also known as “Tianmingjing”), 4 liang of fresh honeysuckle leaves (use 6 liang of dried leaves; place the dried leaves in a bag, soak in running water overnight, remove, grind while still wet until smooth, clarify to obtain the powder; each 1 liang of powder constitutes one batch, to be mixed with subsequent batches), 8 fen of Polygala (with the core removed; soaked in licorice water), 1 qian of Moutan bark,1 qian of Ren Zhong Huang, 1 qian of Ren Zhong Bai, 3 qian of Platycodon root, 5 fen of dried silkworm pupae (soaked in licorice water; remove the floating oil from the water), 5 fen of borax, 5 fen of genuine Sichuan fritillary bulb, 5 fen of puffball mushroom, 4 fen of pearl, 5 li of Western ox bile, and 3 li of borneol.

Processing

Roast the four ingredients—Polygala, Moutan Bark, Platycodon, and Stiff Silkworm—over low heat. Grind the remaining eight ingredients separately into an extremely fine powder until no sound is heard when rubbed; then combine them with the previously prepared powder and mix thoroughly.

Instructions for Use

Blow the powder onto the affected area; or take 1 liang of fresh Achyranthes bidentata, mix with half a wine cup of human breast milk, pound to extract the juice, add 3 li of Dangmen musk, mix into pills the size of mung beans, and hold under the tongue.
